I am a
French Canadian living in
Guatemala, but currently weekending in
Honduras, reading a
British news site about the death of a
Pakistani politician who was assassinated by her own countrymen or
Saudi Arabs based in
Afghanistan who used to be funded by the
American CIA.

That is amusing. I hope you will be having a fun time after reading the news.
The world is getting smaller to the point that it is all one big international country....but not.
And why the French Canadian...and not just Canadian? I don't say that I am English Canadian or Western Canadian....
I wish the story I was reading was as amusing as how international the situation was!
As far as being a French Canadian - my ancestry and culture is distinctly French. If my parents were Korean and immigrated to Canada, there would be little question as to my origins. My ancestors were also in "Canada" before Canada was a country, so I claim that heritage aswell as pre-Canadian. I don't claim that my heritage is better than someone who would say they are solely Canadian, but I do claim my bit of culture that attaches itself to my nationality as something special.
