Frenchies

Spoken to me today at lunch by member of a short term mission team member from PEI, no context needed as there really wasn't a context:
And those Frenchies, I have no use for them. And the worst ones are the New Brunswick Frenchies. I've got no use for them at all.

I have no use for racists, especially PEI ones.

WOW! I am speechless. But giggling a little. I can't believe that was said to you.
Wow.

But what would they do with all their potatos if it weren't for Frenchies and their fries?

ha...where's the guy from in PEI? Hopefully not the northwest, where my fam is from. In related news, I attended this celtic fest in Chicago, saw Natalie McMaster (who was so great), but also an acadian group from PEI by the name of Vishten (sp?). found out later that the two ladies were from close to Mont Carmel, a small town close to the trans canada, has the best soft serve ice cream, which we always frequented on the way up to Alberton. My dad and I left the festival quite ticked. how's that for a long comment.

I see that I have many sympathizers. Thanks Kevin, Aimée, Danny and Melayne.

I haven't decided whether/how to tell this gentleman that I'm a French Canadian from New Brunswick. What's funny is that this guy has warmed up to me quite a bit, and he is quite likable too. I'll keep you posted.

Mr Machine (or should I call you Mr Jones? Hmmm?), I'm glad you married a Frenchy from NB, that way our Frog blood will be further propagated throughout the earth.

Saison, you're hilarious.

Justin, I don't remember the town, but it's 30 minutes east of Charlottetown. I read your comment 3 times trying to figure out what ticked you and your dad off so much, then I realized you probably meant tickled.

I'm leaving this one alone. Not my fight...but will support you if you need it. :-)

How ironic! ha!

So, the end of the matter is... as the team was leaving, I said I hoped this French Canadian from New Brunswick was of use to him. His response seemed a little shaky, but he mentioned that New Brunswick was "filthy place." Now, he was a funny, sharp-tongued and whitty man, so everything he said should be taken with a grain of salt. I asked him to pray for the French in New Brunswick as they need more missionariees than Guatemala (because Guatemala has far more missionaries per capita than NB).

yes, tickled the right word. glad you translated. I was ticked at the weather, though - it poured all day, and I was completely and totally sogged. But, it really was cool - both Dad and I screamed...it was just so unexpected to find a group from PEI in Chicago...
